Camp Coach in Training Program
About the Program
The CCIT program is designed for youth interested in working with children in a day camp setting. The program will help individuals develop skills and training necessary to become a future leader at Camp Magruder or any camp setting. This 3 week long training experience incorporates the following topics through out the course: team and leadership skill, overview of camp coach responsibilities, camp and playground safety, first aid certification, participation in leading and creating camp activities, and developing skills to work with children.
Eligibility and Participation
This program is intended for youth ages 13-17. Applicants must be at least 13 years of age at the start of the training session in order to participate (no exceptions will be granted). Selected participants are in a unique position, as their position neither categorizes them as a camper or a camp coach. Rather, CCIT participants will have an experience that will help them discover whether they are a good fit to be a leader in a camp environment. CCIT's are held to high expectations and expected to lead activities, and handle confrontation (with supervision), work with children, work as a team, and other responsibilities as given. Upon successful completion of the program CCIT's are given a certification, eligibility to participate in an internship and eligible to earn at least 75 hours of community service learning hours, If offered a position as a CCIT there is a $75 fee for participation in the 3 week training session.
