In the Spring of 2017, the City was notified of the intent of a developer to adaptively reuse the Metro II office building within the University Town Center, located at 3700 East West Highway. The developer intends to transform the complex into 311 rental apartment units. The outside facade of the building the same, but the interior will be completely renovated, adding residential amenities such as a fitness center, club rooms, underground parking and bike storage.
Due to the property's location within the Prince George's Plaza Transit District Overlay Zone, this project qualifies for an expedited review process. The Prince George's County Planning Board approved the project in July 2017. The Detailed Site Plan for the proposal can be found here.
